THE HEART

“It is from dreams that the greatest hopes are built,

It is from the greatest hopes that the greatest dreams materialize."

A TERROIR APART…

“A place, a harmony”

Located in the Dobrogea region, on the banks of the
Danube, our vines were planted in 2011 over an area of 73
hectares and extend across two hillsides.

The area is divided into 42 plots, each of which is a small
vineyard in its own right with its own unique identity.

The interaction of the elements, between wind and water,
has shaped our environment over millions of years, and
our lands are rich thanks to the inseparable presence of
the great Danube.

The union of the sandy-loamy soil, the sun exposure of the
two hillsides and the particular altitude completes this

exceptional terroir.

THE GENESIS OF A GREAT WINE

Le coeur- nous avon choisi......jpeg

“We have chosen to evolve with our terroir without seeking to modify it.”

At the origin of a great wine, there is the vine. At Domaine
DUMETRIER, the vine has tirelessly occupied our thoughts
since the beginning of the project.

Aware that the future of our wines lies in our land, we
have preserved to the greatest extent possible the
pedological, geological and climatic characteristics of the
environment selected for planting the vineyard.

In particular, we have favoured the interaction between
the plant, the soil and its environment in order to ensure a
wine that most faithfully reflects the typicity of our area.
We therefore wish to limit as much as possible any
modification of the soils physico-chemical balances. This is
why we favour the application of organic manure, a natural
activator of the soils fauna and microbiology.
The vine had to integrate into this balanced ecological
environment and to colonise it without excessively strong
competition;

Thus, the vine has transmitted into the composition of the grape and the wine the characteristics of this environment, the greater part of whose components have beenpreserved.

However, within the constraints we have set ourselves, we
preferred that the vine adapt to its environment rather
than bring its environment to conditions more favourable
to its cultivation.
The overall objective of this approach has been, and
remains, the revelation of a true terroir, while respecting
the setting in which the plant is established.
It is in the vineyards where the agronomic criteria of
cultivation are never met that great wines nevertheless
emerge.
Our commitment is to care for our terroir, for the plant and
animal species that compose it.
Respecting the inhabitants and the land that have
welcomed us is, for us, a commandment rooted in the
values of our estate.

A HERITAGE, VALUES

"Our values are defined by our daily actions."

We do not choose the easy path, for it is through effort
that one obtains the greatest results and the finest victories.

Our philosophy is part of a long-term vision, a vision that goes beyond our own lives.
We are building a future that we wish to leave as a legacy
to whoever, one day, will know how to carry on this
eternal love of the land, of the vine and, as its reward, of Wine!

MAGIC

“What we do not control sometimes offer us great surprises.”

The character of nature is unique and at times capricious.
We, as human beings, cannot and must not fight against
this very nature.

Our duty as winegrowers is to listen, to observe and to
acknowledge the needs of this powerful force to which we
all owe life.

Favouring the natural interactions between the plant, the
soil and its environment is, for us, an inseparable part of
our long-term plan for success.

Because of these decisions, our work demands greater
effort; but at times, when she is respected, nature returns
through her magic more than what we have given her, and
the rewards of our efforts exceed our hopes.
